I wish I knew what it felt like
To be an ocean
With waves cascading in rhythm and rhyme
To have a tide that is high for once
Instead of the low I know all the time

I wish I knew what it felt like
To be a river
Easily swayed by a gust of air
Sometimes rapid, sometimes placid
But perpetually going somewhere

I wish I knew what it felt like
To be a raindrop
Descending from the clouds
Losing identity in the puddle
With a crash upon the ground

I wish I knew what it felt like
To be a tear
Streaming softly from your eyes
I could stand for gladness or sadness
But I'd be standing somewhere in your life
